A back up ring prevents extension and extrusion of a packing or an O-ring. Backup Rings are mainly used in combination with O-rings to secure the O-ring so that it is not ejected. The Backup Ring minimizes the gap and thus ensures that the O-ring is not pushed into the gap and damaged.
Backup Rings are economically advantageous sealing elements with a very wide range of applications in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Backup Rings make it possible to use O-rings under high pressure, and can be used both statically and dynamically.
Backup Rings are used in almost all industries, but especially in stationary machines and for static sealing.
Backup Rings is often made of PU, PTFE or POM.
